To be fair, he doesn't know who either guy is. He just knows that "Dark Vader" gets to have a sword. So then there's that.

I think you should combine the two. He could be Darth Lincoln or Abe Vader. It could work. I'd still give him candy...probably a couple handfuls for that kind of creativity!
Well, if Abe Lincoln had had a sword, things may have turned out differently... If he goes as Darth Vader, I vote you as Princess Lea with the ear buns. So there's that, too.
Seems like a general theme, I think he should be Abe with a sword or light saber.
I know I am late on commenting, but for next year just add a cane - voila - there's your sword.
